Analysis of the IMERG-GPM Precipitation Product Analysis in Brazilian Midwestern Basins Considering Different Time and Spatial Scales

Precipitation products derived from satellites have emerged as a promising approach for obtaining precipitation estimates, enabling accurate long-term observations and describing the water cycle dynamics global scale to local scale. The quality of these has improved significantly in last decades, especially with emergence TRMM missions its successor GPM. objective this study was evaluate daily, monthly annual estimates provided by IMERG version 05 GPM, data observed rainfall stations Brazilian Agency Water Sanitation (ANA) basins midwest. In order compare data, spatialization performed means ordinary kriging technique, interpolating grids 0.1° × that correspond specialized GPM satellite. were evaluated quantitatively statistical metrics. satellite product relatively well on daily regions smooth topography, able describe regime larger time scales, regardless terrain conditions. However, retrievals unable reproduce extremes virtually all situations, which may limit their application frequency analyses.
